(From more detailed route information please visit www.omanbyutmb.com)

50KM: ALM

Route subject to final confirmation

New to the 2019 Oman by UTMB is the 50KM race, perfect for runners new to the sport  who are looking for a tough but fair challenge.

Starting in Al Hamra, runners will have to overcome more than 2,400m of climbing, with almost 2,000m coming in the first half of the race. They will reach their highest point at Qiyut and run long the top of the plateau until they meet up with the check point at the top of the W8 Trail, where they will start their decent through the mountains to Coffee House, through Misfat and on to the finish line at Al Hamra.

137KM: JBA

The first edition of the Oman by UTMB proved to be a big hit in 2018 and was labelled one of the most technical UTMB routes in trail running. Runners now have the chance to go face to face with the original 137KM trail again as they  take on the heights of the Green Mountain, Jebel Al Akhdar, run through ancient, deserted villages, traverse plateaus, navigate stunning ridges and pass through beautiful wadis, before finally descending into the traditional mountain village of Misfat Al Abriyyin and on to the finish.

170KM: JBS

Route subject to final confirmation

This incredible  challenge is only open to elite athletes who will follow the 137KM route up Jebel Al Akhdar, including the vertical climb out of  Balad Sayt,  before taking on the trail around Jebel Shams where they will climb to an altitude of almost 3,000m, before heading down to the finish line at Al Hamra via Misfat Al Abriyyin.

The JBS will provide a significant technical challenge to all runners who take part in this race and will require participants to be confident and completely self-sufficient as there are significant distances between the support points on the Jebel Shams section of the route.

Runners arriving at the Aid Station at Col Trail Split within the barrier time, the point at which the Jebel Shams section starts, will be evaluated before being allowed to continue with the JBS. Those runners found not to be in a condition to take on the additional section they will be re-directed onto the JBA route down towards Coffee House, as well as those that arrive after the barrier time for the that Aid Station for the JBS.
