100km JBA
Presented by Alila Jabal Akhdar

ONE OF THE WORLD’S MOST SPECTACULAR ULTRA TRAILS – ENTRIES OPEN NOW!

100km Jebel Akhdar (JBA)

Oman by UTMB® has proven a big international hit ever since its inaugural edition. This year’s event offers runners the chance to take on the heights of the Green Mountain, Jebel Al Akhdar, on an epic course that is set deep within Oman’s rugged, untouched landscapes. Welcoming entries from competitors with 3 ITRA ranking points, the 100km JBA will award athletes 5 for reaching the route’s finish line.

Journeying through ancient villages, lush plantations stunning ridges and beautiful wadis, the 2020 edition promises to take runners on an adventure through the most dramatic and varied scenery that Arabia has to offer. The JBA and JBS races follow the same route as far as the summit of Jebel Hatt, then the participants of the 100km will start their final descent to the traditional mountain village of Misfat Al Abriyyin, which leads onto a victorious finish at Al Hamra. With neither the Via Ferrata section nor the Balat Sayt vertical climb featuring in this year’s JBA trail, this year’s event will appeal to pure trail runners.

Qualifying Points For OMAN by UTMB®

The ITRA (International Trail-Running Association) evaluates the points awarded by a race according to its distance, height gain and autonomy (aid stations vs runners being self-sufficient). According to the ITRA points awarded, the race can apply to become a UTMB qualifying race. UTMB must accept the request in order for a race to award a certain number of points, equivalent to the ITRA points.

Each runner will need to have the required qualifying points in order to enter and compete in their chosen Oman by UTMB 2020 race category. These will have been collected by finishing applicable races hosted from 1st January 2017 – 31st October 2020. A list of qualifying races can be found on the UTMB website.

If you have any enquires regarding the status of your current ITRA points, please contact ITRA directly.
